Articles, Essays, and Visual Work

EXPLORING WHAT SHAPES US, WHAT SUSTAINS US, AND WHAT BECOMES POSSIBLE WHEN WE SEE MORE CLEARLY.

My work explores the relationships among environment, regulation, capacity, connection, perception, and change.

Some pieces begin with research or professional practice. Others begin with an image, a moment, a question, or an experience that reveals something larger about how people anticipate, adapt, protect themselves, create meaning, and move through the world.

I am interested in what happens inside us before something arrives, while something is changing, and when meaning remains unresolved.

Whether expressed through writing, imagery, sound, or movement, the purpose is the same: to make complex ideas understandable without making them smaller, and to stay with experiences that do not reveal themselves all at once.

AREAS OF EXPLORATION

Regulation and Capacity

How environments affect what people can access, sustain, express, and become.

Relationships and Connection

How safety, trust, protection, attachment, and expectations shape what happens between people.

Leadership and Organizational Life

How pressure, culture, roles, systems, and working conditions influence leadership, collaboration, and performance.

Learning and Development

How regulation, relationships, context, and capacity affect participation, growth, behavior, and learning across the lifespan.

Neurodivergence and Environmental Fit

How people are often asked to compensate for environments that were not designed with their needs in mind.

Perception, Time, and Meaning

How anticipation, memory, attention, and perspective shape what we experience before, during, and after a moment.

Change, Transition, and Becoming

What happens within us as identities, relationships, roles, and ways of living begin to shift, including the uncertain space between what has ended and what has not yet fully arrived.

The Inner Life of Ordinary Moments

Reflections on uncertainty, silence, movement, beauty, impermanence, and the meanings that emerge when we look more closely.

SELECTED ARTICLES AND ESSAYS

This collection includes professional articles, reflective essays, conceptual pieces, and practical writing for leaders, educators, helping professionals, caregivers, and anyone interested in the conditions that shape human capacity and experience.

Some pieces offer frameworks and practical insight. Others remain with a question long enough for something less obvious to emerge.

Anticipating Goodness

An exploration of anticipation as an experience in its own right and how the ability to imagine something good may affect attention, motivation, regulation, and our capacity to receive what comes next.

Additional writing on regulation, relationships, leadership, perception, and change will be added to this collection as it is published.

SELECTED VISUAL ESSAYS

Some questions are better explored through image, sound, movement, and time.

These short visual pieces use ordinary moments, music, pacing, reversal, and juxtaposition to explore perception, ambiguity, anticipation, memory, and change.

It Was Clear Until It Wasn’t

A visual meditation on silence, language, and the unstable boundary between clarity and uncertainty.

VIEW THE PIECE

Depends How Long You Look

A time lapse drawing that asks what becomes visible when we resist the urge to decide too quickly.

Somewhere Between Forward and Back

Movement shifts direction along a winding path, creating a reflection on progress, return, and the difficulty of knowing which way we are actually moving.

VIEW THE PIECE

THE SAME QUESTIONS, IN ANOTHER FORM

The visual work and written work are not separate practices.

Both explore what happens before meaning arrives, how perspective changes experience, and what becomes visible when we stay with something longer.

Words can explain an idea directly. Images, sound, and movement can allow us to experience the question before we resolve it.

WRITING FOR ORGANIZATIONS AND PUBLICATIONS

• Forewords, introductions, and reflective commentary

• Research translation for professional or public audiences

• Practical guides and written learning resources

• Conceptual frameworks and position pieces

• Collaborative writing and developmental support
